My interest in photography primarily evolved from a desire to paint. I intended to use the photographs to study the subject in greater depth but became so fascinated at how different the world looked through my lens that I fell in love with taking pictures instead.
Flowers have always held a particular fascination for me and each one seems to have it’s own personality. There is a sensuality to the folds of their petals and a decadence to their colour and texture that no couturier can match. I try to capture this love of form and detail in each picture and it’s not unusual for me to spend upwards of 100 hours editing a single flower.
My “editing process” is really more like digital painting where the finest detailing is painstakingly applied pixel by pixel and it has taken me over three years to develop this technique. This is very much a labour of love but one that brings me enormous satisfaction. I never tire of the desire to create new works or from seeing the pleasure it brings to others.
