Justin Wilkes was born in Sydney, Australia in 1988. In 2010 he graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Arts, Majoring in Sociology and Political Science. During this time he photographed protests and social movements in Canberra and Sydney.
In 2012 he attended a Magnum workshop run by David Alan Harvey with special guest Stephen Dupont.
In 2013 he quit his job in Sydney and travelled to Egypt to photograph the political and social change post 2011 revolution.
His work has been published in The New York Times, TIME, The Jakarta Globe, and The Egypt Daily News.
He is currently based in Cairo, Egypt.
