If you're like me, you put a large amount of stock into your memories. Memories are one of the few things we have that are truly ours. In life, all we really have is time, and the experiences we have in that time. Unfortunately, no one knows for sure exactly how much time anyone really has, and every moment we have is gone just as we realize it was there. I believe that memories are important, because these memories help push us forward into being the best person we can be.
Memories can be captured and savored in many different ways. Ever heard a song you listened to at a particular point in your life, and suddenly you're transported back? See a picture a Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and remember the people who had it hanging in their dorm rooms in college? Smelling the scent of the coming spring sometimes inspires visions of years past. Memories allow you to travel to multiple points in time, without actually moving. Memories are a powerful thing, and can be captured in many different ways. I choose photography.
Photography is a great vehicle for memories, not only for the sake of typical recollection, but also for the inspiration of where you want to make your next memories. As you look at photographs, your brain sparks, as mine does, and you are inspired. Inspired to live. Inspired to look at who you've become, for better or worse, and realize that, you've still got time to make whatever you want to happen, happen.
These are photos. Photos from moments in time. And time, is all we really have.
