Kandace's goal is to create images that enhance the viewer's appreciation of nature, whether the images are of underwater creatures, the animals that roam wild in our great land, or the beauty of the landscape itself. Her images tell a story through the use of light, composition, color, and - at times - the creative use of these features in the abstract to look at nature in new ways. It is important to her to never have strong expectations that photographing a subject should turn out a certain way in order to be a success. Her work has been published in National Geographic's online magazine and subsequently used to market their website. Many of her images have graced the cover of local clubs' magazines and newsletters. In December, 2010, the National Association of Photoshop Professionals selected her photography portfolio as Editor's Choice. She has been awarded the 2010 and 2011 Photographer of the Year by the Houston Underwater Photographic Society, Houston, Texas. Her underwater images are on display and for sale in the gift shop at the Moody Gardens Aquarium, Galveston, Texas.
