Galapagos ‘The Enchanted Isles’ – Part 2

…..I’d been reading a lot about the Trans-Siberian and bought a few books on it. Just the sheer adventure of traveling roughly 6,000 over land and by train sounded pretty awesome. To my friends, traveling on a train was not a trip they deemed worthy to call a holiday, but that’s them.

The other issue with this trip was the notion of the climate, in that it would be roughly -15 to -20 all the way to Beijing. That’s cold even by British standards. A few window shopping trips to the likes of Snow+Rock, Cotswold, Blacks etc and online browsing scoping out winter gear proved that I’d be spending a lot more, and that was just to keep me warm, I hadn’t even booked the trip yet.

Even though I’d already chosen the travel company for the trip, it didn’t stop me looking at what other companies had to offer and to see if they were value for money and overall no one company was trying to sell the holiday at an extortionate premium. Galapagos ‘The Enchanted Isles’ – Part 1

People make statements and grand statements at that. At the time when we say it, it makes sense but rarely do we see the consequences of saying it? Of course we can’t see into the future. But that doesn’t stop us saying it.

I said the following

‘…..back from the Enchanted Isles aka ‘The Galapagos Islands’…it has been an immense, powerful experience and has forever left an indelible footprint on what makes me who I am…’

Few years prior before me turning 30, I made the executive decision that for turning, what many people consider a big number, I wanted to be out of the country, I didn’t want to be in pub, bar or somewhere inside a building watching people getting pissed, drunk and more or less likely inebriated. I wanted to be somewhere other than London. Having travelled the globe, there was still a few places on the planet left for me to go to. The pre-requisite for this trip was that;
