When

First 500px was created in early 2003. In May 2005 the domain 500px.com was purchased, and it quickly evolved to a version 1.0 in February 2006. Current version was developed from 2008 and went live in end of October 2009 by invitation only.

Where

The 500px company is located in Toronto, Canada. We are located in a beautiful downtown Toronto, and often work in Starbucks cafe. However, we are very mobile and parts of the code were made in Russia, Ukraine, and US.

How

Our code is 100% handmade. Backend is written in Ruby on Rails, made with combination of magic and alien technology. Designed with mad skills in Toronto, Canada.

Who

Envisioned by Ian Sobolev, 500px was created and made possible due to large efforts of Anton Demin and Tema Loginov. Version 2.0 is designed by the core of 500px team: Oleg Gutsol, Alex Karasyov & Ian Sobolev.
