What is a photographer? To me it’s a visionary, a poet, a storyteller, and a master of light and shadows. This is what I call myself. In short-an artist. My art comes from many forms of inspiration.
Before my daughter was born I was mostly drawn to lonely and solitary scenes within nature or undersea. I looked for natural light and shadows to paint the picture I wanted with the rising or setting sun. I waited in cold and solitary water for the perfect moment in my undersea world to shoot. Bright bursts of color or moody scenes with no one around. I loved venturing out on photography expeditions alone to see what would catch my attention.
Now that I’m a mother what catches my eye and camera’s lens is so different than it used to be. These days I look for joyful smiles and that moment when a child’s eyes light up and sparkle. I use my photography to illustrate personal relationships. As you browse through my website you will see fleeting moments of motherhood, childhood, parenthood, and life’s sweetest moments.
I can still be drawn in by the light flooding in from a large window or an East facing doorway, but now there is usually a person standing in that light being transformed into a work of art. The setting sun will always hold a sense of magic as it casts it’s lovely shadows and warm light on the faces of my subjects.
Whether it’s portraits, nature, or undersea I still seek out the fleeting moments of my world and yours to keep forever.
