I'm an amateur photographer who takes pictures across a wide variety of subjects, focusing mainly on landscapes and the natural world.
I take photos mainly to relax and to learn. Edward Munch once said, "I don't paint what I see – but what I saw".
To achieve this I seek to get the shot right first time 'in camera' wherever possible. My post processing is completed in Adobe Lightroom, and is intentionally as light of touch as possible,to get the best from each image without drastically changing the original.
Photographers who I admire include Bruce Percy, Cole Thompson and David Bailey. I also really enjoy the articles and books from Andrew S. Gibson.
It's often quoted, but Ansel Adams was so right when he said:
“There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.”
With hard work and application I hope I will be able to move some way towards producing 'good 'photographs of my own, and that I enjoy my time on the journey ahead.
Please visit from time to time to check up on my travels. And if you'd like to leave a comment, constructive criticism is most welcome.
