I thought I'd mark what, for me, should be a life changing and momentous occasion by posting my favourite photo of 2012 so far.
This is the Nubra Valley in Ladakh, India. It's in the Himalayas, not far from the border with China and Pakistan.
It is, I think perhaps the most beautiful place I have ever been. It's hard to describe the combination of isolation, majestic splendour and tranquillity mixed with the brutal conditions of the high altitude (it was bloody cold when I shot this).
So, I took this early one morning, we had to get up at something like 4.30 to get here in time (5.45). Totally worth it as you can see. Getting up for photos is one of the hardest things to do, but it yields amazing rewards.
Have a great Sunday everyone...
