As you can notice, she seems to have recently shaved her head. In India it is a custom to shave their heads as they offer their hair at temple when they wish for something or when their wish if fulfilled. It is also known that major temples use this hair in the manufacture of wigs, etc,. It is not uncommon to find locks longer than 1 metre being offered.
