Standing on a boulder overlooking Nares Lake in the southern Yukon, a pair of Arctic Ground Squirrel pups check out the scene as they prepare to make their way in the world as adults. Unfortunately for them, they're a critical part of the food chain in the North. Many will wind up in the belly of a predator or scavenger, but in the meantime they sure are cute.
