Rocca Calascio is a mountaintop fortress or rocca in the Province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo, Italy.
It's one of the most beautiful, picturesque and pristine places in Italy.
Near the fortress, at a slightly lower elevation, is the subject of this shot: the Oratory of Santa Maria della Pietà, an octagonal church built in the seventeenth century.
This location was used as a set for some famous movies such as the masterpiece of Jean-Jacques Annaud "The Name Of The Rose" with Sean Connery.
I took this photo immediately after a storm, a few minutes before an amazing sunset.
