Composition is top notch. It does well to draw the eye toward the center of the photo and then allows the eye to wander about a bit. The contrasting is done well to bring out the texture.
well seen and done. the composition is perfect. great use of (corresponding) lines, and the juxtaposition of door-frames makes me feel like I am looking into a mirror. also well exposed which brings out the cool textures.
Not sure about the category "city and architecture", but this is due to the limited choice 500px offers of course.
I'd planned to get up early and go shooting, but I couldn't sleep which made it much easier to get moving. My sister-in-law had suggested checking out a place called Devil's Backbone where a segment of Antietam Creek runs through a park (I'll post photos of that later).
Across the street from the park, up on a small hill was this abandoned house. It was falling into considerable ruin and unlike many other abandoned places, it wasn't overrun with the detritus of rambunctious teenagers. The elements, and only the elements, seemed to be the single factor reclaiming this structure.
I explored inside (including upstairs) but this shot was my favorite, taken from outside the house looking in. Just as the sunlight was coming over the trees the shadows in this house seemed to come to life. I was lucky to be there at the right time.
