We all have special places in our lives. Not the grand places that you might see on vacation, but the small places that are large in our memories and experiences. This photo is such a place for me because of the amount of time I have been photographing it. I first took bw photos of this lighthouse while a photography student in college decades ago.

During my senior year in college three of us rented a house on the ocean that had the same view of this place as you see here. I still return to this place when I am in that area and I still photograph it. It is also the background in my Windy Day photo, which is why I paired them together in here.

Today is National Lighthouse day in the US. I didn’t know that until after I had planned to post it, but I’m happy about it. This is the Point Judith Lighthouse in the south east corner of Rhode Island, built in 1856. There is also a Coast Guard station on the grounds. If you sailed directly east from here for about 3000 miles, (4800 km), you would land in either Spain or Portugal, and vice-versa.
