I love this little black bear cub!

He and his two siblings were strolling along after Mom one warm spring evening at Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains National Park. Just seeing a black bear with three cubs is a treat, but these guys were puttin’ on a show!

As mom went along feeding, this little bear just couldn’t resist, well, about every tree he came across. He’d find one, climb it, then race down and climb the next – just doin’ what bear cubs do I guess!

Well, the cool thing was that they were all parallel to us, so none of that whole “getting between a mother and her cubs” thing to worry about (although, you ALWAYS keep an eye on mom!).

At one point, the little guy raced up a tree, then swung around and posed for me – and this shot is the result!
