Settling of the lava bench at Waikupanaha, created this major fracture through the new delta, running parallel to the shoreline. Varying in width from 4 to 8 inches, while over 100 yards long and extending far below sea level, it was a telltale sign of a possible bench collapse. Every surge of the ocean created an invisible rush of unbearable heat… so much so that my 24-70 was never the same. The surrounding surfaces were also incredibly hot, melting the legs of my carbon fiber tripod. Thermal distortion rendered most of my images unusable, with this being one of the exceptions.

By the way, anyone in the market for a pretty hot 24-70? lol….
