In all my travels to Shanghai over the past 3 years I was never fortunate enough to witness a clear blue sky or golden sunset, that is until this past week. Most sunsets here are blanketed by a thick layer of smog. Nevertheless I carried my tripod, camera and assortment of filters each day that I went to the office or traveled around the city. Fortunately, my patience paid off and we've had now over 1 week of California like blue sky weather! I'm hoping this weather holds up because I'm sitting in bed nursing yet another case of traveler's sickness. :(
How this capture was created:
This is a single image capture created with a Canon 5D Mark iii and a Canon 17-40 F/4.0L lens, stabilized by a Gitzo GT2541EX tripod hanging out of the 29th floor of a skyscraper! :-) Exposure length was 1/8 of a second, aperture f/22 to add a starburst effect to the setting sun, ISO 50, focal length @ 33mm. Minor exposure, white-balance, contrast and cropping adjustments were made in Adobe Lightroom 4.
Hope you enjoy!
