Seeing a beaver was already a rare event. We and our guides from Homestead Lodge saw the beaver happily walking along the low tides in Lake Clark National Park, among the bears who were busy eating
clams. "Lets go take some beaver portrait" We were about 200 feet away from the beaver. A bear saw him. The bear just took two quick jumps, and smashed his claws onto the beaver from mid air. We heard a penetrating scream. My eyes closed for a few seconds. "Guess no more beaver portrait." When we walked closer, the beaver was running with the beaver body from the furious chase by another 2 bears from half a mile away! He was looking back at those bears when this shot was taken. At times, these 2 running bears were within 10 feet from us. I felt the ground shaking...
