Hamasyuku – the Sake Breweries Street

The group of buildings that are to be the subject of preservation.
( Hizen-Hamasyuku, Saga, Japan)

“Hizen-Hamasyuku” flourished as a posting station on the “Nagasaki-kaido” Road, and as a port-town on the Sea of Ariake, in the Edo Period.
In the Meiji Period, the brewing industry flourished in this town,and formed the row of large Sake Breweries with white walls ( → ” Sakagura-dori” Street ).
Still today, a few of them operate.
