The Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni) is a medium-large butterfly of England, Wales and Ireland. Leaf-shaped wings. Always rest with wings closed. Males have yellow-green underwings and yellow upper wings. Females have pale yellow-green wings, looking almost white in flight.
This is the first time I have ever seen one of these in our garden. This is a male and he is feeding off a White Buddleia flower. Taken from a distance of 1.5m with the 300mm F/4 lens, handheld.
