I arrived in Yangshuo quite early in the day, so the first job was to get out and explore Guilin county. The weather was pretty dismal and very, very humid, so the exploration wasn't going to well to begin with.
Any chance of getting a decent sunset looked impossible due to the stormy cloud cover, so I decided just to concentrating on the sightseeing and exploring. Then, the sun managed to struggle though the clouds for a brief moment.
At the time I was right in the middle of a paddy field and couldn't really get anywhere else quickly to take advantage of the sun's rays. I could see a rice harness / carrier not too far away, so a ran along the little ridges in the middle of the water, crouched down and managed to get some decent foreground interest.
I have processed this shout about ten times trying to get the right feel to it. I think I'm finally happy with this version.
Although you can see plenty of dark clouds in the sky, it didn't start raining until the end of the next day and boy did it rain! After about ten minutes, the streets of Yangshuo had turned into rivers. The benefit of this was that the humidity dropped slightly for about half an hour. Sadly it then, somehow, became even more humid and was way past 90%.
