Sometimes you go out shooting and you come home with many fewer usable shots than you had expected. In fact, I've even sorted through 200 shots to find only one that I really thought I could do something with. And then there are the times that you go out shooting and every shot seems to have potential (if it isn't great right out of the camera). This particular photo outing last February was just such a time, and if you had asked me back in Feb why this worked out so well I probably wouldn't have known. Six months and a bazillion landscape shots later, I realize it's probably because I was shooting this scene exactly when it was supposed to be shot: when the light was low and the sky was putting on a show. So, that thing that you have always known -- that you have to shoot a landscape scene not when you're ready but when it is -- has only recently gelled with me. Understanding that will undoubtedly save me lots of frustration and head-scratching as I sort my photos.

I hope everyone's having a great week. If you're a nine-to-fiver, just remember that when you hit lunchtime tomorrow your work week will officially be half over. And if you're in the U.S., that means you're half way to a three-day weekend. Yesssssssss!!!
