Thank you both. A couple things about noise... the D700 seems to do very well with regard to noise, even at ISO 6400. It has the best low-noise sensor that I've seen. When noise becomes a problem (the wardrobe photo in this series is an example), I use Nik Software's Dfine plug-in. It usually does a very nice job of cleaning up noise. In the case of this photo, the noise wasn't too bad, and since I was converting to a gray-scale image and Panatomic X film emulation (using Nik's Silver Efex Pro 2), I didn't worry about it.
