While I am enjoying working with black and white, the vivid colours of Mother Nature's creations are to be celebrated more often than not, at least that's the way I feel ;^)

The endangered Indochinese Tiger is also known by the name Corbett's Tiger in honour of Edward James (Jim) Corbett. Born and raised in what today is a part of Northern India in 1875. He discovered a love for his natural surroundings and came to know the names, calls, and habits of all creatures within it. His abilities as a tracker through jungle developed over the years, and at some point he was called upon to hunt down and kill man-eating Tigers and Leopards, for which he gained something of a reputation.

Interestingly enough, the more he set off to hunt these big cats the greater his appreciation and respect for them grew, and in the late 1920's he started bringing a camera along with him, though as one might imagine capturing good quality pictures proved to be extremely challenging!

He resolved to only hunt man-eaters and those considered a threat to cattle, due to his growing concern for Tigers and their habitat, and went onto promote the need for preservation and played a key role in establishing India's first national park in the Kumaon Hills, which was eventually renamed in his honour in 1957.

Hope that was of some interest to at least a few of you; I had to look it up on Wikipedia, as I was curious to find out whether my scepticism of Busaba's species was ironically named after some “great” white trophy hunter, and was pleased to discover that Jim apparently was not only hunter turned conservationist but a photographer too … methinks I could sit down and have a amicable chat with this guy after all ;^)
