In the centre of Iceland lies a region full of geothermal craters and pools. After arriving here to photograph this at sunset, my friend and I decedied to hang around a few hours in hope that the sunrise light would be better.
It slowly got dark, we watched the northern lights dance around in a twilight sky for about an hour and then watched it get light again with one of most beautiful sunrises I have seen for quite some time. Made the short stay completely worthwhile and as soon as the colour had disappeared from this sky we got back in the 4x4 and drove on the three hours to the nearest signs of life.
It really is amazing spending time in the remote highlands of Iceland.
