This photo, I need to say straight out is one of me favorites. Let's say in my top 3. Maybe is not obvious on the small 500px windows, so I'm going to explain my stand. New York is like piano. Easy to start, difficult to perfect. Shoot with a blindfold every where in Manhattan and you should get an interesting photo. But try to show exactly what you long for, as an artist; try to show the tones and patterns able to draw your idea, and that, that is difficult. I've searched for months a place in New York city where you can feel not only the density (quite easy to find) but as well the sense of space as a lace of glass. I've got many iron cliffs, many compact patterns creating this brutal approach (that your find in the Brutalism style in architecture). But with the perfect compromise between ruthless density and delicate scope, I've got really only this photo. You can see a "S" in this space, with a reading line going from down right to left then to right again to finish on the up left corner. The skyscrapers lead you into this space like cemented arrows. You wander with them in a slalom drawing smoothly the space. Thickness of the volume + amplitude of the air = Manhattan in my mind!
You are in Midtown center, between Central Park (just beyond the left side) and Bryant Park (just beyond the right side):
