The stunning and spacious turbine hall or air house at Pyestock. Rows of turbines helped to generate a large amount of the suction needed to create supersonic airflow within the various testing cells nearby. When the larger, more powerful No9 exhauster in cell 4 came online it used all of the power the NGTE could generate and then synched with the national grid. However it was still such a drain on local electricity supply that they were only allowed to run tests at night. Running this site was an incredibly expensive business!
