The hippopotamus is responsible for more human deaths in Africa than any other mammal, including predators (except for man, and the deaths caused on wildlife and birds by our kind).
Coming face-to-face at eye-level with one of these behemoths via a small boat is intimidating to say the least. This was captured on my photographic safaris to Savute and the Okavango Delta with Orient Express.
