March, 2011: The badlands in Death Valley take on all kinds of beautiful hues depending on the time of day. Here, I accentuated the pinks and blues that the camera records at twilight. This is not a "straight" interpretation of this scene, as the colors are richer than the eye would see if you were standing in front of this scene before sunrise. I have found Tony Kuyper's impressions of sandstone to be both beautiful and inspiring. His images inspired my approach to processing this image.
