Waldo Lake is one of the gems of the Oregon Cascades. Camping, canoeing and mountain biking there in September with a big group of family and friends...it just doesn't get any better. I met another photographer who had been up the night before photographing in the moonlight and he inspired me to drag my carcass out of bed myself. The moon didn't rise until after 3:00 AM so I did my photo session between 3:30 and 5:00 AM before retreating back to my sleeping bag for a couple more hours. I am really enjoying the high ISO image quality of the 5DIII. The night photos from this camera are finally clean enough to look good in large prints.
Canon 5D III, 16-35mm lens. f/2.8 and ISO 3200...30 seconds for the landscape and 15 seconds for the stars.
