Too bad I forgot to record this scene in RAW. This was probably the most I could retrieve from just one single JPEG file ...
The single JPEG image was "double-processed" by Adobe Camera RAW into 2 TIFF files, one for highlight details and another for shadow. These 2 TIFF images were then merged together into one TIFF image by Photomatrix Pro. The final adjustment was done by Photoshop CS6.
