Tried out the Canon 1D mk 4 with the 300 2.8 IS II - Excellent, worked really well in the difficult light.

If I had to choose just one lens to use / keep it would be a 300 2.8, my choice is now Nikon, but I also loved the Canon I owned previously. Such a lightweight and versatile lens, and so well matched to all the latest converters these days.
