This view is down the North Aisle of Peterborough Cathedral. The Standards you can see on the left mark the burial place of Queen Kathorine of Aragon, Henry VIII's first wife.
Pope Clement VII refused to agree to Henry VII's demands, initially for divorce and subsequently for the marriage to be annuled, lead to the split with Rome and the establishment of The Church of England with himself having supremacy over religious matters.
The marriage was finally annuled on 23 May 1533 and Queen Katherine, after a brief stay at The More Castle spent the rest of her life at Kimbolton Castle.
She died on 7 January 1536 and was buried in Peterborough Cathedral.
