Released on today's date 21 years ago, Nevermind - the second album of Nirvana, a band still unknown at that time, was not an immediate smash hit. It was rising steadily for three months before topping the music charts.
Kurt Cobain came up with the album title after taking a line from Smells Like A Teen Spirit, which - after becoming their biggest hit, Kurt disliked to play in concerts; he preferred to share some of their other great pieces.
In one of Nirvana's final appearances, the MTV's Unplugged in New York, despite of all expectations, he intentionally avoided to include it in the setlist. Although somewhat disappointing for the mass audiences, this Unplugged session became legendary with the unforgettable performance of the band on the background of the unusual setup of darkness and candles. That was the last good bye to Nirvana and to Kurt, an incredible person with many creative gifts.
