Opposite and connected to the glacier lagoon is the Jökulsárlón beach. During midnight, big ice boulders parade the black sand beach. Imagine a kilometer stretch beach covered with ice boulders... as big as a car! When morning comes, they will melt and float to the sea. You won’t see them during mid day. They start to populate again late afternoon and full attendance during midnight! The first time I stepped on this beach, I was speechless for 5secs... then I started shouting and cursing. This phenomenon is a must-see for nature lovers! And of course... we shot these ice with northern lights above! It was our first night to experience the light show... more on that later.
