Malachite Kingfisher. A super fast, secretive and very unpredictable colourful Kingfisher and one of the smallest in Africa at only 14cm. Feeding mostly on fish and aquatic insects. I worked on a Malachite Kingfisher nest for 14 days from a small homemade hide. I had the privilege to photograph most of the feeding sessions by the parents. To predict the flight plane and focus point, with a depth of field of only 5cm, was extremely difficult and one of the challenges to overcome. A very fast shutter speed were required to freeze the action.
