FESTIVE FLOWERWORKS, OF A YELLOW PROTEA...

...that thinks it is a fire-cracker?
I photographed this in the studio, playing with lights yet again, flags and cutters... I wanted it to look like fireworks.

Because today, I celebrate: 1 year on 500 px!

Leucospermum cordifolium belongs to the protea family and is indigenous to South Africa. Some of the most spectacular species in the diverse vegetation are the proteas of the Cape region . Protea is both the botanical name and the English common name of a genus of flowering plants, sometimes also called sugarbushes (SUIKERBOSSIE). It is the stiff protruding styles of the flowers which are the source of the common name "pincushion" for this genus. The genus Protea was named in 1735 by Carolus Linnaeus after the Greek god Proteus who could change his form at will, because proteas have such different forms. Giving my flowers SOUL?
