I'm taking a break from my Hawaiian photo series to introduce you to these adorable coyote pups that I got to film and photograph on multiple occasions throughout this past summer. On my final visit to their den, they did not appear until after sundown. It was too dark to photograph them, however, I was able to film them using the night-vision setting on my video camera.

Coyotes play a critical role in keeping a balance in the food chain. They regulate smaller predator populations (e.g., mesopredators like foxes, opossums and raccoons), which in turn allows mesopredators' smaller prey (e.g., bird species) to survive. Without this balance, many species are at risk.

Currently a war is being waged on coyotes and other vital native predators by "wildlife management" agencies. Their approach threatens the balance of nature and harms innocent wildlife, pets and humans in the process. You can help stop this war by sharing this photo and the following YouTube links with your friends and families.
