Capo Vaticano, looking out to Stromboli

Well actually somewhere between Capo Vaticano and Tropea.

Taken on my recent trip to Calabria in southern Italy. The one time during my stay that the weather wasn't bright and sunny was overnight, this is the start of weather moving in from the sea. I wasn't expecting to come away with a usable image on this occasion as the sun was masked by cloud. I was just about to leave when the sun broke through a gap and everything lit up.

The volcano visible on the horizon is Stromboli, it's been erupting for 2000 years. I took a boat-ride out to see it the night after.
