Being in Machu Picchu during the rainy season we had no big hopes for a sunrise shot of the ancient ruins. Nevertheless we left our hostal at 4:00 in the morning and climbed up the steep path. Our disappointment wasn't too big when we arrived there just to find the ruins covered in fog.
Luckily the clouds started clearing shortly after our arrival. As soon as the fog had lifted from the ruins I started taking pictures. I liked how the fog was still covering the surrounding peaks. I took this image as the top of Huayna Picchu was visible through the clouds for the first time.
