We waited quite some time to capture an image of this beautiful bird as it is constantly on the move and very seldom does it seem to light on a branch or just take a seconds rest.
They are extremely beautiful in their coloring and they have highly in descent plumage. It is mainly bluish purple and on the crown and a greenish blue on the back. When seen in low lighting they almost look black in color.
They are found in the humid foothill forests in the Western Andean slopes of Colombia and and North Western Ecuador.
One of my favorite species and a stunner when the light hits their gorgeous plumage.
