I had been out on the sea ice for several days already and at this point I had backed away from the main rookie trying to figure out what to concentrate on next. I saw five emperor's walking and sliding along the ice toward me. Knowing how curious they usually are I backed away from my gear with another camera and watched. I don't think I could have posed this any better if I tried. I managed to capture several shots of them but having the one actually seem to be looking through the viewfinder made this the top shot of the series for me.
