My grandparents had a tapestry of a ruminant hanging on their wall. It had its name inscribed below it: “Eland” in English and “Pofu” in Swahili. Looking at it then, I estimated it to be roughly the size of an antelope. Two days ago when I finally got to see a couple up close, I was amazed at how big they actually are. I was also really taken by the calm beauty of the faces of these majestic animals. This one in particular looked quite unperturbed by my invasion of their private domain.
