We found this little beauty on one of our walks in the forest s up in the Andean Mountains between . They usually are found on the earth floor of the tropical jungle and the ochre-breasted antpitta is one on the hardest of the antpitas to find and to see. They are a small bird and are found in Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, and Ecuador. We were fortunate to see several species of ant pittas and some are fairly large but this ione is one of the smallest of this species. Such an endearing face and we loved the little round body and big eyes !!! Definitely it was worth the search for this amazing little bird.
