This is one of those photos that serves as a good reminder that sometimes the best shots are found in places we don't expect. We were at one of the markets in Bujumura during our last full day in Burundi. As we browsed the shops, looking for gifts for friends and family, I snapped a couple photos of one of the vendors and some of the merchandise,. However, as far as photography goes, there wasn't much of interest. The experience itself was interesting, but our patience for the agressive behaviour of the vendors was quite short (especially given that we were all exhausted and ready to head home). We moved from one shop to another and I happened to glance to the side and see this gentleman working away. I quickly snapped a photo, which proved to be quite humorous to his friends. I half expected him to turn away when he heard them laughing, but instead he looked up an gave me a grin. Not only do I love this photo because of the shallow depth of field and interesting perspective, but it's a great reflection of the friendly nature of the Burundian people (despite the aggressiveness of vendors).
