Black Backed Jackal with a Kill - It was our first game at Ndutu and our 3rd and final destination at Tanzania. After having spent the whole of afternoon with the Mother Cheetah and her 4 cubs, including some exciting chase of a Male Cheetah chasing a Gazelle, we were heading back to our camp. The time was 6:30pm light was fading fast and it had been drizzling all afternoon so our driver God Friend Wilson was a bit concerned due to the weather conditions, the black mud, rains and the fear of not finding our way back or getting stuck in the black soil.
As he drove and negotiated these hurdles, at a distance I spotted a Jackal and he cleverly had made a kill of a Gazelle Fawn. Our good friend Dr.Rajeev Dinamani couldn't hold his excitement screamed as loud as he could Go Wilson Go!, and it was quite obvious we had a fantastic game drive all afternoon. And in no time we landed up right in front of this Jackal, I wasn't ready with my camera settings, I knew it was set at high ISO 3200 and the subject was too close for my 500mm lens. I knew that the Jackal will disappear in a flash so clicked few shots instantly and finally managed this image. It was amazing to watch the eyes of the Jackal who was so focused and off course hungry and he showed us that this what is Calving Season all about.
