Very cool. I only tried shooting smoke once and had mixed results. Part of the problem was I had an unreliable hot shoe flash, but I have new Nikon flashes now. I will have to give it another try. Thanks for the help.

This is an incense stick, it gives nice smoke to shoot, smokes about 30 minutes so you have tons of time to catch some interesting figures, and it's very cheap of course =)

Nothing special, it was first experience of shooting something like that. I have no external flash, I just put DSLR camera on a tripod prefocused on a stick with a 2 seconds exposure time so I have time to light the smoke with my point-n-shoot camera's internal flash(light from the left side). Used piece of cardboard as a gobo, so light will not spill on the black background. That's it.
