I recently spent a long weekend in the Adirondacks region of New York to photograph the Adirondack Balloon Festival and to visit the surrounding areas. If nothing else, it was a nice drive while the autumn leaves started changing. One of the stops was Fort Ticondaroga on the southern end of Lake Champlain, quite literally on the border between New York and Vermont. The fort didn't do too much for me photographically, but the surrounding view did. I was struck by the serenity of the landscape amidst the coldness of a wartime fortress built in the mid 1700's, which had been visited by George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Benedict Arnold to mention a few. This location was a good example of how much beauty I saw on this short trip and just how amazing New York State is. I look forward to exploring more.
