Due to a big storm several days before our visit, many wood ducks left the area, and the wind blew away a lot of fall leaves. Weather forecast for that weekend was raining the whole time. But we never lost faith (except occasionally during dinner with a few beers). Finally, the sun broke through the heavy dark cloud for a few minutes, and out of nowhere, this wood duck drake swam to a spot that has the golden reflection, and, lo and behold, flap his wings right in front of us. My legs were sore for 2 days due to my awkward position of squatting in water for hours. But its all worth it.
