Pika (genus Ochotona), small short-legged and virtually tailless egg-shaped mammal found in the mountains of western North America and much of Asia. Despite their small size, body shape, and round ears, pikas are not rodents but the smallest representatives of the lagomorphs, a group otherwise represented only by hares and rabbits (family Leporidae).
Well, my alpine friend was actually less than friendly, very skitttish, and and just couldn't sit still... so i climbed over the guars rail, layed down in the rocks, and waited him out, with my 500mm... of course windy, and some snow flurries at the top, Rocky cut, RMNP!. finally this fellow decided to warm up a bit in the sun, so it was game on! What a blessed trip this was, to have had the opp, to capture, the main players, that i've always read about , and drooled over other folks images!! Click on Mr.. Pika, for a darken BKG!
